Rescuing a point for Arsenal on Saturday, hopefully the equaliser in the north London derby can reinvigorate Alexis Sánchez.

The Chilean netted in the fourth round of the FA Cup against Burnley in February and had scored twice against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League before his injury, but in the Premier League his record was terrible.

Six goals all season, and they arrived in the space of three games back in September and October. Before his injury against Norwich City, Alexis went five Premier League appearances without finding the back of the net.

Returning from his hamstring issue, the match against Spurs was his seventh in a row (and his sixth consecutive start) but finally, after 140 days and 11 Premier League appearances without finding the back of the net, he scored. There was a touch of fortune as Hugo Lloris struggled to get down to the ball, but it was an important strike nonetheless and earned the Gunners a point.

“I hope that will give him needed confidence and encouragement to continue and the goal will give him a lift,” said Arsène Wenger after the match.

In desperate need of a lift, hopefully this was it for the Chilean. Arsenal are going to need a sensational run of form to make sure they claim the title now, currently three points behind Spurs and eight behind Leicester City.

There are some difficult away fixtures coming up, but Arsenal can still do it. Just. Alexis finding some form would be huge for us now.
