Speaking as one of BT Sport’s pitch-side pundits before Arsenal’s match against Hull on Saturday, Jack Wilshere confirmed he could be back for the Barcelona away game.

The midfielder, who’s been sidelined for what seems like an eternity, said that he could be back on the pitch within three weeks, which coincides with our away tie against the Catalan giants.

“The problem’s been quite clear,” he said.

“I broke my leg in training the day before the charity shield, i didn’t think I’d need surgery but I did.

“I’m running. It gets harder and harder to get back into the Premier League.

“I think with me, all of my injuries have been impact injuries. My first was an ankle injury which took a while to heal so I think it’s just the way I play.

“I think this is probably the best group of players in terms of personalities and I think that’s important.

“Maybe [I’ll be back for the Barcelona game]… three weeks. I hope so. Maybe.”

Wilshere was involved in that historical 2-1 win against Barca in 2011, almost exactly five years ago and although this time will be at Camp Nou, I’m sure it’ll be huge for him to be involved again.

The 24-year-old has stepped up his training recently after being out with a broken leg for the entire season so far and I’m sure the England international will be keen to start where he left off, considering he appeared to be returning to form right at the end of last season.

Hopefully he can slot into the team and remain fit.
