On Sunday, Benik Afobe faces us, his former team, for the first time.

The striker has been lethal since signing for the Cherries, having scored three goals in four appearances, but Wenger insists that we’re more than aware of the ability he possesses and said that we’ve faced plenty of strikers like him.

“We are aware that Afobe is quick and strong,” the boss said.

“We are used to facing this.”

It’s unclear what went on behind the scenes at Arsenal when we finally decided to sell Afobe. The young lad never managed to properly break into the first team and instead got sent out on loan deal after loan deal before we finally let him move to Wolves permanently. Within half a season of being there, Bournemouth came forward and bought him for a club record of £10m. Fortunately for them, he’s been proving his value.

Afobe insisted that there are no grudges held, although he didn’t want to leave, which does suggest that the parting of ways wasn’t 100% amicable. However, Wenger’s comments, which make Afobe sound like your run-of-the-mill striker, are a little odd.
