What a return for Danny Welbeck. Out since last April, the striker was back in the matchday squad on Sunday.

Boy, did he deliver. Coming off the bench with Arsenal level against 10-man Leicester City, Welbeck was surely asked to find Arsenal a winner.

His first chance was fluffed, he appealed for a penalty to no avail, but he made no mistake in the FIFTH minute of stoppage time when Mesut Özil floated a free-kick into the box. The smallest of touches flicked the ball towards the far post, beyond Kasper Schmeichel.

Arsène Wenger, surely as delighted for Welbeck as he is delighted with him, was right to hail the striker after such a long time out injured. A huge moment for Arsenal’s season, and for Welbeck’s career, firing us right back into the middle of the title race.

Thanks Danny, and welcome back.
