After four Premier League games without a win, Arsenal stopped the rot against Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.

First half goals from Mesut Özil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain gave the Gunners something to hold on to, and the side did just that to stay in the hunt for the Premier League title. Saturday’s results saw Arsenal begin Sunday eight points behind Leicester City, but that gap looks considerably smaller now.

At the beginning of the winless run through January and the start of February, Arsenal topped the league. Now there’s five points separating us from Leicester, who we play next week. Anything else may have seen us too far adrift to make the ground up on them.

With 13 games to go, 12 after we face Leicester next Sunday, there’s plenty of time to win – or drop – more points. Wenger insisted that Arsenal remain in the title race, reminding everyone that we can control our own performances.

Now up to third and ahead of Manchester City, there’s everything to play for.
