Arsene Wenger has argued that sometimes going through a bad spell is not only normal but necessary when it comes to the Premier League.

Speaking ahead of our match against Bournemouth on Sunday, the boss admitted that although we’re going through a dry spell in terms of goals, sometimes these things need to happen.

“Look, it’s not definite,” Wenger said.

“It is frustrating because we had some periods where we scored for fun and we have dried out recently so we have to correct that.

“Sometimes you have to go through spells like that. Sometimes when we win games we shoot three times at the goal and score three goals. [Against Southampton] we had all the chances – we must just continue to create them.”

I agree that dry spells are natural and the majority of teams go through them. Although Leicester appear to not have suffered through one yet I’m praying that it will come. However, what’s more important is recovering from these periods quickly and professionally. If we let ourselves get too bogged down and preoccupied with the fact we’re not scoring, it’s highly unlikely that this is going to change.

Hopefully we can end this spell with a win against Bournemouth on Sunday, goodness knows we need something to smile about ahead of our match with Leicester next weekend.
