On Saturday, Leicester City won at the Etihad Stadium to go eight points clear of Arsenal in the Premier League.

On Sunday, the Gunners responded with a win of their own – their first in five Premier League games – to stay within touch of the Foxes. It all sets up next weekend’s clash between Arsenal and Leicester nicely, and there’s a long way to go yet.

“We still play Leicester, we still play City,” Arsène Wenger said after Sunday’s 2-0 win against Bournemouth.

“Leicester has made a big impression in the last week because they beat Liverpool at home, they go to City and beat City. Suddenly everyone looks at them differently, it means they become the favourite to win the Premier League.”

Leicester have been turning heads all season, but now the pressure is really on. Victory on Saturday makes them favourites for the title when, up until now, everyone has just been waiting for them to fall down.

With five points between the two sides, Arsenal have an enormous opportunity to close the gap next Sunday.

“It’s a big game for us at home, we want to stay in the race and we want to beat them.”

Following the trip to the Emirates Stadium, Claudio Ranieri’s side have a relatively simple looking run-in, playing Chelsea and Manchester United away but not until the last month of the campaign. This could be Arsenal’s best chance to close the gap and really pile the pressure on.
