In Friday’s press conference, Arsène Wenger spoke about the twin threats of Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy.

The pair have fired Leicester City’s title challenge so far this season, and Arsenal will have to keep them on a tight leash this weekend in order to stifle the Foxes and win the game.

But that’s just one part of Leicester’s success. Vardy embodies the hard-working high-energy approach of the whole side, and the man who drives the midfield and dominates the park with similar endeavour is N’Golo Kanté. The box-to-box midfielder doesn’t stop and doesn’t give members of the opposition a moment’s rest.

“He’s had a remarkable impact on Leicester and also on the Premier League,” Arsène Wenger said. “Now everybody sees him today as one of the dominant figures in defensive midfield. He has done remarkably well.”

Kanté, partnered by Danny Drinkwater, will have to deal with the penetrating runs of Aaron Ramsey as well as the superb creativity of Mesut Özil. If they can shut those two Arsenal men down, the Gunners will struggle to forge any openings in the final third.

However, the intelligence and movement of Arsenal’s chief midfield creators could be too much for Leicester. It’ll certainly be an interesting battle, and is one that could decide the game.

All focus is on Mahrez and Vardy, but if Arsenal get the better of Kanté in midfield that may well be enough.
