Asked for Leicester’s weaknesses and how Arsenal would exploit them on Friday morning, Arsène Wenger was reluctant to comment.

The boss has never been happy to base his approach to games on the opposition, instead preferring to work on making the most of his side’s strengths and protecting their weaknesses. Do both of those on Sunday, and the Gunners will have a chance.

Last weekend saw Arsenal win in the Premier for the first time in five games, and Wenger would love to follow that up with another victory.

“We have to look at ourselves,” the manager explained. “What is important for us is to find the momentum back. That means we win a few games, after that let’s not count too much on the weakness of Leicester because they’ve not shown too many.

“We have beaten them 5-2 at Leicester but a week after they went away from home and won another game so let’s not speculate on the weakness of Leicester. We want to find the consistency in our results until the end of the season because we have big game after big game now.”

Sunday’s clash is huge, and is quickly followed by an FA Cup game against Hull, Champions League games against Barcelona and a trip to Old Trafford. We also play Spurs away early in March, and have to go to West Ham, Manchester City and Everton before the season is over.

Leicester, meanwhile, have no other distractions. Arsenal on Sunday, then 12 more Premier League games. Could that be a disadvantage in some way?

“The time to think can be a disadvantage if you don’t use your thinking in a positive way when the pressure is on,” Wenger said. “Sometimes less time you have to wait for the next game the better it is.”

Let’s hope that turns out to be the case in the title race.
