Arsene Wenger has described Arsenal as ‘guilty’ after our 2-0 loss to Barcelona at the Emirates.

The match was frustrating but we weren’t bad by any stretch of the imagination – Barcelona were just too good.

Saying this, we had our fair share of results to swing the game in our favour. However, as is the norm as of late, we failed to convert any of our clear-cut chances so when Barcelona went 1-0 up thanks to a speedy counter-attack and Lionel Messi goal, it was an uphill battle.

We still had our chances but Mathieu Flamini saw fit to give away a penalty within seconds of stepping onto the pitch. Messi wasn’t going to miss and we ended the match 2-0 down.

Speaking after the match, Wenger was disappointed.

“Of course I’m disappointed because we lost in a way we knew we could not afford,” he said.

“We are extremely guilty.”

I can see why it’s frustrating but at the end of the day, we did our best and that’s all we can really ask. Could things have gone better? Of course. But that’s not worth dwelling on.
