Arsene Wenger believes Arsenal’s lack of wins in the league lately have been down to nerves.

Arsenal have failed to win in four matches in the league now and we’ve slipped to fourth place after being top almost all season. Although we are only five points behind the leaders Leicester, it’s important we don’t slip further and start to get results.

Wenger believes this is possible and that our loss against Chelsea and draw with Southampton were both down to nerves.

“I felt we were a bit nervous in the last two home games, against Chelsea and Southampton – we didn’t come out of the blocks like we would have liked,” he said.

With all due respect, I understand that footballers are human and do suffer from nerves, but after this long, should they really be impeding our performances so much?

We’ve shown before against the likes to Manchester United and City that we’re capable of putting in big match performances where they count.

Hopefully now we have players returning to fitness we’ll be far less edgy and start to believe again.
