It’s not unfair for Arsenal fans to expect more from Alexis Sánchez.

After coming off the bench on Saturday, Alexis saw his struggles in front of goal and on the ball continue in the frustrating 0-0 draw against Hull City. Since an injury in November he ha scored just once in six appearances, and he’s only netted six times in 18 Premier League games all season.

The Chilean has struggled for form after a blistering first campaign in English football, but the Champions League has seen him find the back of the net with more regularity and Tuesday night, against his former club, would be the perfect time to turn his fortunes around.

Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger isn’t worried one bit about whether or not his star man will deliver when Arsenal need him most.

“Don’t worry about Tuesday,” said the Frenchman. “He’ll be tuned in. He is about focus, Sánchez.

“I don’t think he was completely ready to come on [against Hull in the FA Cup on Saturday]. It looked like that, but he grows with the game.

“He has a game based on risk and so when he’s not completely, completely highly tuned in, it becomes dangerous.”

How do you tune him in, then? The winger must be determined to make up for his form so far this season, and he must be desperate to impress against the club who sold him to make way for Luis Suárez.

If that’s what it takes to tune Alexis in, for Tuesday and the rest of the Premier League season, then let’s hope it works.
