Manchester United were forced to play their backup keeper in their Europa League game against FC Midtjylland on Thursday night after David de Gea picked up an injury in the pre-match warm up.

As you can see in the video below, de Gea went down to collect a ball and seemed to pull up clutching his stomach.

Update: De Gea has reportedly suffered a knee injury, the severity of which remains unknown but with just over a week until Arsenal’s trip to Old Trafford it doesn’t look good for him.

Arsenal face United in just over a week and while there is no update on de Gea’s injury at the time of writing, this could be a massive boost for the Gunners, especially on the back of the news that Wayne Rooney is set to miss out.

United are also currently without Young, Fellaini, Borthwick-Jackson, Darmian, Januzaj, Varela, Jones, Schweinsteiger, Rojo, Valencia and Shaw.
