It was a day to remember for Arsenal new boy Mohamed Elneny, as the Gunners beat Burnley 2-1 on his debut.

A new signing from FC Basel, there’s plenty of reason to be excited by him as he is a versatile midfielder, capable of playing a number of roles. Naturally a box-to-box type player, he is clearly happy to have the ball and do defence work too. Also impressive is his willingness to run.

Saturday saw him play the full 90 minutes, and he had 100 touches during the match (more than anyone else on the pitch). Completing 84 passes (95% completion rate) he proved to be very tidy in possession, and was also eager to shoot when chances fell his way.

It was a solid start and, if it’s anything to go by, we could have signed a diamond in the rough.
