A little while ago it was claimed that Hector Bellerin was faster than Usain Bolt.

Yeah, we laughed too.

Now, it seems, that someone has asked the world’s fastest man about the claims and he laughed too.

The self-confessed Manchester United fan told Eurosport “These stories make me laugh.

“Footballers are very fast over the first 10-20m – that is what they train for. I train to be fast over 100m or 200m.”

The whole nonsense started when Bellerin was clocked doing 40 metres in 4.41 seconds, a distance that took Bolt 4.64 in 2009.

There’s no denying that Bellerin is as fast as a whippet (actually, I just Googled a whippet’s top speed and it’s 56 km/h which would mean it could do 40 metres in 2.57 seconds making it quite a bit faster) but did anyone really think he was faster than Bolt?

Nah, didn’t think so.

Bolt also gave his opinion on United, adding  “As a Manchester United fan, we are used to watching attacking, entertaining, winning football.

“We haven’t seen much of either this season.”

Let’s hope that continues on Sunday.
