Laurent Koscielny has been talking all things about the French national team and Arsenal in his latest France Football interview. Here are some of the interesting bits about the Arsenal.

On his signing at Arsenal coming from FC Lorient, coming as a virtual unknown to the English media and supporters. Koscielny arrived after just one full season in Ligue 1,

“Obviously the fans did not know who I was, I could feel it. I was quite discreet when I arrived, but Arsene Wenger had obviously spent (a lot of money) around £10M on a transfer fee. I had no problem integrating to the team. At the time there were even more French players or French speaking players than nowadays. I was closed to (Bacary) Sagna, (Gael) Clichy and (Sebastian) Squillaci, who helped me to adapt to England.”

How he felt about being named captain against Southampton:

“I was proud, it was the first time in the Premier League, but I had already worn the armband in the Cup against Sunderland and Burnley. I do not feel an extra pressure captaining the side, I believe that every player has an important role to fulfil in the team and he must do it well.

“Nevertheless wearing the armband will always remind as an important moment in my career. Legendary players like Tony Adams or Thierry Henry have worn it before me.”

On his contract extension until 2019 and his long tenure with the club:

“I took this contract extension as sign that the club trusted me. If I reach the end of that contract, I will have spent ten seasons with the Arsenal. I am really happy in a club that has everything you need as a player. It is the same for London in my personal life. I extended my contract three times with the Gunners. I therefore believe that the club and I are quite happy to work together.”
