Despite being injured for the majority of the last few seasons, Tomas Rosicky reportedly earns £85,000 a week – more than the likes of Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny.

The midfielder, who recently returned from seven months on the sidelines against Burnley, only to injure himself again, is one of the top earners at the club despite not actually playing a great deal.

Of course the likes of Mesut Ozil (£140,000) and Alexis Sanchez (£130,000) are at the top, which isn’t really surprising considering how much we paid for them and how much they contribute to the team. However, is it right that the Czech international is earning more than some of the key members of our first team?

If the reports are true, the sum he’s earning is likely to be down to his age and loyalty to the club. It looks as if we’ll be releasing him when his contract is up in the summer, and perhaps if his wages are that high without him even playing, that’s a good thing.
