Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger spoke to the media on Friday morning, previewing Arsenal’s FA Cup clash against Hull City.

The manager has been known to rest players in cup ties, but is promising to play a competitive line up this weekend after praising the strength of the Championship. Hull are top of England’s second flight, and the manager has admitted he will show the opposition respect this weekend.

“A strong side, a normal side,” Wenger said when asked how strong his team would be on Saturday afternoon. “Koscielny will be available, he has a test today but the test will be positive, I think. Gabriel is still out. I believe one more week, he started running yesterday.”

Danny Welbeck came off the bench to play around 10 minutes against Leicester City last weekend and netted a dramatic late winner. Now, after 10 months out, he is in line to start.

“I might start him,” Wenger said. “I haven’t decided yet completely but it crosses my mind.

“Elneny has a good chance to play tomorrow.”

So will anyone be rested?

“Petr Cech it’s possible because Ospina plays in the FA Cup.”

There must be a temptation to rest players ahead of a big week – Arsenal play Barcelona on Tuesday and Manchester United the following Sunday – but the Gunners also want to win a third consecutive FA Cup. History beckons, so why rest too many players?
