Wojciech Szczesny is never one to shy away from an opportunity to make a joke and while giving an interview recently, the goalkeeper questioned whether he was the reason that Arsenal haven’t won the league in so long.

The goalkeeper, who’s currently on loan at Roma, insisted that he does watch every Arsenal game he can and spoke to Theo Walcott very recently about our title chances. However, the 25-year-old admitted that he might look a bit stupid if we do go on to win it, considering it will have happened the season he left.

“I watch all Arsenal games, of course,” Woj said.

“And I hope they will be champions, honestly. I spoke to Theo Walcott yesterday and told him they have to win it, but it’s gonna make me look like some kind of idiot. They never won it when I was there and now… Oh look, Szczesny is gone so it’s obvious what the problem was. I might be joking, but it’s still a bit, you know… maybe it’s true after all.”

Of course, the Pole is only having a bit of banter. Classic Woj. Although having Petr Cech in goal for us this season has admittedly been huge. We may not be in as nearly as good a position as we are now if we didn’t have that experience between the sticks and it’s hard to see Woj coming back and taking his place.
