Journalist, Paulo Freitas, has confirmed that Gabriel has returned to his home country of Brazil in order to undergo treatment for his injury.

The centre-back picked up a thigh problem after our win away to Bournemouth in the Premier League and has since been shipped back to his former club, Vitoria, to receive treatment.

It’s unclear how long the 25-year-old will be out of action for or why he’s needed to return to Brazil to heal. It may be to do with his former medical team knowing his body better and therefore what works quicker for him or it could simply be so he can get a bit of warm weather.

Similarly, we sent Alexis back to Chile when he injured his hamstring against Norwich and although he took longer than expected to return, everyone seemed happy enough with the decision.

Hopefully Gabriel returns soon, although in the mean time, Per Mertesacker and Calum Chambers seem to be doing a pretty good job filling in if their Leicester performance is anything to go by.
