Liverpool are looking to sign former Arsenal midfielder Havard Nordtveit from Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Norwegian played for us from 2007 – 2010 but spent the majority time with us out on loan at Salamanca, Lillestrøm and Nuremberg before signing for the Bundesliga team in 2011.

If he doesn’t sound familiar then that’s probably because he never actually made an appearance for our senior team, although he was on the bench three times and featured seven times for our u21s in the Reserve League.

The 25-year-old looks as if he’ll be out of contract in Germany in the summer and Jurgen Klopp wants to bolster his inconsistent defence.

Nordtveit has now made 26 appearances for his national team and is pretty experienced after spending the last few years playing regularly in the Bundesliga. After only signing for Liverpool recently, Klopp will be fully aware of his playing style and will therefore have a pretty good idea of what he could bring to the Reds.
