Manchester United are already without a number of first team regulars heading into Sunday’s game against Arsenal, and their injury troubles took another blow on Thursday.

Warming up for a Europa League game against FC Midtjylland, striker Anthony Martial complained about a hamstring injury and was withdrawn from the team.

The Frenchman was due to start up front in the absence of Wayne Rooney but had to be replaced by debutant Marcus Rashford who, as fate would have it, went onto score twice to help the hosts ease through at Old Trafford.

Now it appears that Martial’s injury isn’t too serious, but he will still almost certainly miss Sunday’s match.

Without Wayne Rooney and Martial, it’s likely that Rashford will have to lead the line once again. The United defence is already being patched up with youth team players, and the midfield isn’t far away from requiring the same emergency attention.

Whoever you support, you have to admit it’s all playing into Arsenal’s hands very nicely indeed.
