Ronald Koeman admitted ahead of Southampton’s clash against Arsenal at the Emirates on Tuesday that the Saints stand a good chance of getting a result.

The Southampton boss brought up their glowing record against us, which, from our point of view, is worrying.

“We played four times against Arsenal before Tuesday and we have won three of them,” Koeman said.
“We won both at home and the away game in the League Cup.
“We lost in the last second by 1-0 last season in the Premier League. That means it’s close, even though they are fighting to win the title and we are not.
“But we showed we can be competitive against them and a very hard team to beat. We would like that again on Tuesday.”

Southampton have proven to be a real thorn in our side since getting promoted. For some reason, no matter how they’re doing in the league, we always manage to mess up our chances of getting any points from the fixture.

Still fresh in the minds of the players (and the fans) will be our 4-0 thumping at St. Mary’s on Boxing Day and this will either be a blessing or a curse. We have two options: either let the pressure once again get to us and crumble at home to lose our second league game on the bounce. Or, we use it as motivation to restore balance.

Unfortunately I don’t see us beating them 4-0. However, just a win will be enough.
