Speaking to BT Sport ahead of our FA Cup clash with Hull, Jack Wilshere revealed how he believes the return of himself, as well as others, will be instrumental in our push for the League title.

The midfielder admitted that he does still think Arsenal are favourites but that we do need to take the likes of Leicester seriously. However, with several key players, including himself, set to return soon, this could be what makes the difference.

“I think Sunday was massive for us (defeating Leicester),” Wilshere said.

“Eight points down would have been a long way back. People saying are Leicester going to do it, go the whole way? But they beat Leicester, they came here and gave us a really good game, so we have to take them seriously.

“I still think in my head we are favourites but with that comes pressure. So whether we feel that or not is the question. We’ve got a few players coming back with Cazorla, myself and Danny (Welbeck) coming back to full fitness. So hopefully with us and Danny scoring a couple of goals we can do it.”

He added, “Yeah I think in previous seasons that’s where we’ve just missed out, we got a few injuries. In the past few years the squad has had great players but when we had injuries it was difficult for someone to come in and the boss didn’t really want to rotate but this season we seem to rotate more and rest players, which is good for us.”

Wilshere is right. We’re now rounding the bend and ambling onto the final stretch. This is where the teams who aren’t going to win the League drop off and the Big Teams are truly tested. This is also where squad depth really comes into play and if we can get the likes of Santi Cazorla and Wilshere back on the pitch, while keeping Danny Welbeck fit, this could be huge for our title hopes.

And it seems like we may not have to wait too long for certain players to return…
