Gabriel missed Arsenal’s win over Leicester on Sunday after he was withdrawn from the squad with a slight hamstring problem.

The defender was slated in to start for the fourth game in a row when he missed training and it was rumoured that he had picked up a thigh injury.

Much was made of the fact that Per Mertesacker would have to take his place but the BFG, as he tends to do, coped with everything that was thrown at him.

It was the second time this season that Gabriel had missed a game against Leicester this season. He missed out on the reverse fixture as he served his suspension for the Diego Costa-inspired red card at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season.

The news that the injury is described as ‘slight’ will also come as a relief to Arsenal fans who will be hoping the squad can stay fit for the crucial games on the horizon and trophies at stake.

UPDATE: Since writing this post, it has been revealed that Gabriel will miss the next two weeks with the injury.
