Steve Bruce has admitted that he will be phoning Arsene Wenger ‘very, very quickly’ to try and make the loan deals of Isaac Hayden and Chuba Akpom permanent.

The two Arsenal youngsters have been on loan with the Tigers since the start of the season and have done more than enough to convince Bruce that they should be part of his side on a permanent basis.

“Hopefully he [Wenger] thinks it’s a good home,” Bruce said.

“We try and look after them and a year on loan at somewhere like Hull will do them the world of good.

“They have both had terrific years with us and I will be on the phone very, very quickly to see if I can make it permanent.

“I wouldn’t mind that at all.”

Akpom has been with Arsenal since he was six and it would be unlikely that the club will let him go at this point, although another loan next season could well follow.

Although he has only grabbed three goals in 27 Championship appearances, Akpom has also netted three in just one FA Cup match as well as one in the league cup.

He signed a contract until 2019 one year ago.

Hayden arrived at Arsenal in 2008 from Southend when he was just 13.

A talented central defender, Hayden can also play as a defensive midfielder. He has 14 appearances in the Championship this season and a total of 20 in all competitions.
