Arsenal are in the thick of the title race and are hoping to defend the FA Cup, but Olivier Giroud says fighting on every front is important.

The striker was speaking to the media ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League game against Barcelona on Tuesday evening, and he says the players are driven to do well in every competition they play in.

After scoring twice against Bayern Munich this season and netting a crucial hat-trick against Olympiacos, Giroud would love to make the team and prove he can make a difference against the very best again this week.

“Obviously they are favourites but we have a lot of quality and quantity this year,” Giroud said. “We did well in the tough moments in the autumn, we have our players and we’re very happy against that. Danny made the difference against Leicester

“We have a strong squad and that’s why we can play every competition.”

With Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck both available, Giroud may not start on Tuesday but he has shown this season more than any other that he can be relied upon, that he can score or assist when it matters.

There’s a lot of talk about Barcelona’s front three, but maybe Arsenal could just cause a surprise.
