It seems pretty clear that Mathieu Debuchy is leaving Arsenal, but where to?

Debuchy has been eager to make more appearances this season but having lost his spot in the side to Héctor Bellerín he has only made two Premier League starts all season.

After seemingly putting off a move to Aston Villa for the past month, Debuchy will be hoping for better offers on Monday and they appear to be coming in. The first rumour of the afternoon saw him linked with Manchester United but that seems unlikely.

Instead, L’Equipe are now reporting that Ligue 1 side Bordeaux are set to complete a loan deal for the defender until the end of the season. It’s a deal which would suit both parties – Debuchy doesn’t want to be at Arsenal and does want to play regularly. Bordeaux have struggled for a regular right-back so far this season, and it’s a place Debuchy would surely win.

Desperate to play regularly and impress Didier Deschamps so he can force his way back into the national team for Euro 2016, Debuchy wants to go and Arsenal don’t seem to mind. The rumoured deal wouldn’t involve an option to buy, but Arsenal will surely let him go permanently in the summer.

There’s no point in having an unsettled player around the squad, so Debuchy’s departure wouldn’t come as much of a blow. Hopefully he can get his move through today and plays some regular football before the end of the season.
