In 2015, Arsenal finally put an end to years of loan moves for Benik Afobe and sold him to Wolves for good.

The striker quickly caught the eye of other teams after scoring 10 goals in 27 appearances and after just half a season, the 22-year-old got snapped up by Bournemouth. The former Arsenal man is now finally fulfilling his dream of playing in the Premier League, even if it isn’t for the Gunners.

Since moving to the Cherries, Afobe has hit the ground running having scored three goals in four appearances and you wouldn’t bet against him finding the net against us on Sunday.

The striker spoke about the impending clash and insists that there are no hard feelings between him and the club, even though it wasn’t his decision to leave.

“I believe I would’ve [scored goals for them],” he said.

“That’s the story for another day. I’m not there any more and I don’t hold any grudges and say this could’ve happened or that could’ve happened. I’m in the Premier League now scoring goals so at the end of the day I’m happy.”

He continued, “At six you’re still a baby really. They’ve played a big part in the way I play football, helped me progress as a player and I’ve got a lot to thank them for and I respect them a lot, but on Sunday I’ve got a job to do for my club here and there will be no friends.

“I don’t hold any grudges I’ve already scored three goals in my last three games so I’ve got nothing to prove to Arsenal.

“It was their decision to sell me and I’ve moved on. It’s been years now. I’ve got great friends there, I’ve got nothing bad to say about Arsenal. I would’ve liked to have got my chance but it didn’t happen.”

There does seem to be a tinge of sadness to his quotes. Despite insisting a couple of times that he doesn’t hold a grudge, it doesn’t sound like he’s really ‘moved on’ as much as he says he has.
