Arsenal have reportedly set our sights on Watford’s Odion Ighalo to help remedy our apparent inability to find the back of the net.

Olivier Giroud is a good striker. There’s no disputing this. But when he’s having a dry spell in front of goal, we have no one else to really fall back on, which means he becomes the scapegoat when we can’t seem to score.

Although Danny Welbeck is returning to fitness after 10 months on the sidelines with a knee injury, it’s a lot of pressure to put on a striker’s shoulders, given how long he’s been out.

It’s therefore likely that we’ll be linked with every striker under the sun until we do start banging in the goals again and one of the most recent rumours involves Watford’s target man, Odion Ighalo.

The 26-year-old has scored 15 Premier League goals in 26 appearances so far this season, while Giroud has scored 12 in the same amount. Although his stats are only marginally better, if you put him in front of someone like Mesut Ozil, who knows what could happen.

Although I’m not sure how likely the transfer is, considering he’s reportedly worth €25m, if Giroud continues to fire blanks, it might be worth looking elsewhere so he can have some back-up.
