With Dimitri Payet reportedly unsettled over new contract negotiations at West Ham, Arsenal are apparently set to swoop in.

The midfielder has been one of the Hammers’ stand-out players so far this season having appeared in 23 games in all competitions, scored six and assisted four. Considering he was out through injury for a month, this isn’t bad going at all. However, it’s being reported that he’s demanding a new £80,000 a week contract for his efforts.

Enter Arsenal. Well, according to Sport France, anyway.

Arsene Wenger has supposedly been keeping an eye on Payet, which makes sense considering he’d been pretty impressive this season. Although I’m not sure we’d be willing to sign him up straight away to such a big contract, it’s far more likely that he would play for less money for Champions League football (if we get it).

I’m not sure West Ham would sell to us but if the price is right, who knows?
