Arsenal have offered six youth players scholarship deals for next season, according to youth team expert Jeorge Bird.

The biggest name among the six players is winger Reiss Nelson, who has been in impressive form so far this season. Nelson is currently in the England u17 squad and has even impressed for Arsenal u19s before he turned 16 recently.

At just 15, he was the youngest player on the pitch in a UEFA Youth League game against Bayern Munich, but stole the show (before Alex Iwobi netted twice) to really catch the eye.

Striker Jay Beckford, signed from Leyton Orient last year, has also been offered a deal. Portuguese goalkeeper Joao Virginia, who signed for the club in the summer, has also been offered a scholarship along with midfielder Josh Benson and winger Nathan Tormey.

Some players will be told to move on, while others from the u16 side have been told that a decision has not yet been made on their future. Over the past 12 months Arsenal have made a very conscious effort to invest in more youth talent and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see such a policy continue.

Until then, enjoy watching Nelson.
