The season is now back in full swing for all the Ladies’ sides.

Here is the main news from last week.

First team

German center-back Josephine Henning, who left PSG during the winter, traveled with the squad to the training camp in Spain. She was given the shirt number 16 that has been vacated by Carla Humphrey. With Asisat Oshoala negociating terms, the two players would certainly be useful additions to make the squad a very strong contender for the WSL title with strength in depth.

The team played two friendlies while in Spain. They were defeated by Wolfsburg in a behind closed door game by three goals to nil and beat FC Bayern, the Bundesliga holder, and also current leaders by three goals to one. Jordan Nobbs with a 30-yard rocket and Natalia Pablos Sanchon with a brace, while Sara Dabritz scored for FC Bayern.

The Arsenal starting 11 was: Van Veenendaal, Scott, Rose, Williamson, Mitchell, Janssen, Nobbs, Williams, Van de Donk, Carter, Corredera.

Subs used: Byrne, Pablos Sanchon, Losada, McCabe, Stoney.

Subs not used: Yankey, Smith, Henning.

Three youngsters were in the squad but not named on the bench: Sampson, Allen, Kelly.

Development team

Their FA WSL Development League Cup tie away to Manchester City was postponed to the 28th of February as Man City’s first team had a friendly against Rosengard on the pitch planned for the Cup game.

Centre Of Excellence u17 team

The girls beat the Middlesex FA by five goals to one in the FA Girls Youth Cup quarter final and are through to the semi-finals where they could meet Manchester United, Liverpool and Stoke or Blackburn.

Six Arsenal players are currently in California to play in the NTC invitational against Japan, the USA and South Korea. Taylor Hinds, Anna Patten, Lotte-Wubben-Moy, Laura Hooper, Tinaya Alexander and Anna Filbey are all in the squad.
