We’re third in the Premier League table right now, bang in the middle of the title race and level on points with Manchester City.

Picking up just one point from out last three games, however, we have all been looking at Leicester City, who have gone top, and Manchester City catching us. The attention is on those two sides and the rise of Tottenham has gone a little under the radar.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men are the Premier League’s form side, winning five of their last seven matches. Something has clicked at White Hart Lane and they’re now just two points behind us. Should they too be considered challengers for the title? In such a wide open season it’s hard to rule them out, and Arsenal legend Ian Wright thinks they may just be in the hunt.

“There have been Spurs sides in the past who may have fallen away when a result or two went against them, but not this one,” Wrighty told The Sun.

“Don’t think they are going to disappear from the race. Spurs have momentum and you sense they feel they’re on the verge of something big. They will have to show they can do it when the expectations rocket.”

The FA Cup is on the agenda this week, but it will be followed by a swift return to Premier League action on Tuesday and Wednesday. As the top of the table tightens even further, the scrutiny will fall on Spurs a bit more and they will have to show they can handle that added pressure.

There’s no way Wright would give Spurs credit if he didn’t really believe it, and with the impact Pochettino has had we may have no chance but to start taking them more seriously soon. Until they learn about the difficulties of moving to a new stadium, that is.
