On top of winning Arsenal’s Player of the Month, Mesut Ozil also won the PFA Fans’ POTM award for the second month running.

There’s something a bit different about Ozil winning a general Player of the Month award from an Arsenal one. As Gooners, we know how good the German is. We have the immense privilege of watching him week in, week out and we know what an outstanding contribution he’s made.

However, for other fans to begin to notice and actually put aside their potential bitterness that their team doesn’t have him, shows that others are finally dropping their assumption that he’s a flop just because the media says so.

Ozil is one of the best players in the Premier League at the moment and now other fans have woken up and smelt the coffee.

Saying this, I do realise that a large portion of the people voting are probably Arsenal fans. We’ve shown time and time again that when there’s an online vote, we’re on top of it. However, if this was the case, wouldn’t Arsenal players be winning every single month?
