West Ham are said to be interested in bringing Mathieu Debuchy to the club to replace Carl Jenkinson who has picked up a cruciate knee ligament injury and is set to miss the rest of the season.

Debuchy has made it clear that he intends to leave Arsenal in this window although he is said to be only looking for a loan, with the summer more likely to bring him better options.

Aston Villa have been the most persistent in chasing Debuchy’s signature but the Frenchman has been stalling on making a decision in the hopes of other clubs coming in for him and he might have got his wish.

With Sunderland also looking at bringing him north, West Ham would seem to offer the more attractive package of the three Premier League sides allegedly interested.

He’d also get to stay in London and play for a team not fighting relegation football.
