Petr Cech kept yet another clean sheet against Newcastle on Saturday and pretty much single-handedly kept us in the game.

A stunning double save in the first half and a one-on-one stop late on ensured that we not only won the match but that we also kept a clean sheet, despite Newcastle plugging away for the entire game.

Although the Magpies didn’t help themselves by missing a couple of huge chances, Cech mopped up the rest. The amount of points he’s probably saved us this season, quite literally, must be more than the 12 John Terry predicted.

Wenger was keen to hail the former Chelsea man’s professionalism post-match, claiming that he was exactly who we needed to get through the game.

“He made two big saves,” he said.

“He is calm and never panics. We needed that today.”

I have no doubt in my mind that if we’d had someone else in goal, we would not have won that match and that just shows how valuable our new goalkeeper is.
