Hector Bellerin had a great game against Sunderland in the FA Cup on Saturday and Arsene Wenger reckons he can only get better.

Bellerin hasn’t quite been at his best recently after returning from a minor injury. Although he’s still been ‘speedy’, as Ozil puts it, his positioning has been questionable. However, against Sunderland he stepped up and even managed to get two assists during the 3-1 victory.

After the match, Wenger spoke about the right-back saying that his age (20) is an advantage because we’re only seeing the beginning of his career.

“He became stronger and stronger,” the boss said.

“Sometimes I felt in the last 20 minutes, every time he went forward he created a chance on goal.”

Wenger continued, “Of course [he is among the best]. Look at the defensive and offensive numbers. The fact that he is only 20 years old, there is a lot more to come from him.”

It’s exciting to see the likes of Bellerin coming through our ranks and excelling in the first team. It’s obvious that the defender is keen to both learn and improve, as he seems to have ironed out any kinks he had in his game recently.

Although I think it might be a bit premature to say he’s one of the best in the league, he definitely has the potential.
