Arsene Wenger admitted after our 2-1 win against Burnley in the FA Cup that Arsenal were initially left in a state of shock by the visitors’ equalising goal.
After we went 1-0 up in the first half thanks to a stunner from Calum Chambers, Burnley soon came back with an equaliser through Sam Vokes, who managed to rise above our defence and header the ball into the net.
Speaking after the match, the boss admitted that this took us by surprise, saying:
“When they came back to 1-1, it became a different game. They gained belief and we looked a bit shocked.”
Thankfully, we eventually managed to regain our composure and go 2-1 up in the second half thanks to a beauty of a goal from none other than Alexis Sanchez, who’s only been fit five minutes.
I’m not entirely sure why we would have been so shocked by a Burnley goal. Although we were the better team, we were far from comfortable and we’re not exactly strangers to conceding goals. At least we did fight back and got the win.
