Three Arsenal efforts from December made BBC’s shortlist for Goal of the Month.

Unfortunately, in a cruel twist, the eventual winner was Cuco Martina for his strike against Arsenal on Boxing Day.

It was the only blemish on an otherwise perfect month for the Gunners, which featured some noteworthy goals. Anyway, it gives us another excuse to enjoy the three goals that we were nominated for.

There was this superb counter-attack nicely finished by Aaron Ramsey in the defeat of Aston Villa:

Then came Theo Walcott’s incredible strike which gave us the lead in the 2-1 win against Manchester City:

And, lastly, to end the year, Mesut Özil orchestrated and finished his own goal (including a brilliantly flicked assist from Olivier Giroud) as Arsenal beat Bournemouth at home:

Not a bad month for Arsenal goals and results. It’s just a shame that Cuco Martina’s goal, a worthy winner, came against us.
