Well that was beyond disappointing.

Although many will likely argue that Per Mertesacker getting sent off was the beginning of the end for Arsenal in our 1-0 loss against Chelsea, even before that we were playing dreadfully.

We were sloppy, misplacing passes, leaving massive holes and generally looking ridiculous.

Petr Cech – 6

Although we conceded a goal, there’s not a lot he could have done and he did go on to make some decent saves later on.

Hector Bellerin – 5

The youngster was the only player awake during the first 20 minutes.

Per Mertesacker – N/A

He got sent off in the 18th minute…

Laurent Koscielny – 4

The defender had an awful game and he hasn’t been at his best for a while. From the first minute he was trying to pass out from the back, inviting pressure from Oscar, which is really unlike the defender we’re used to.

Nacho Monreal – 5

When even Monreal is having a nightmare, you know it’s a bad day. Although he wasn’t as bad as some of the others, he turned his back to Ivanovic, allowing him to get a cross in the Costa, who slotted the ball into the net with ease.

Mathieu Flamini – 4

I wish I could say I was surprised that he somehow kept popping up in front of goal (and fluffing his chances) but I’m really not.

Aaron Ramsey – 5

Although Rambo is bound to get a decent amount of criticism, his work rate can’t be faulted and most of the reason he appears to not be doing much is down to the players around him.

Joel Campbell – 5.5

Not terrible. The forward had some shots on goal at least.

Mesut Ozil – 6

Once Alexis came on he looked better but rarely had enough time to do anything on the ball, which is a shame.

Theo Walcott – 5

I was hoping for some huge performance from the forward but alas, he just got in the way.

Olivier Giroud – N/A

He was taken off too early to really judge what might have been.

SUBS

Gabriel – 4.5

He was asleep for their goal, and despite just coming on, he should have been ready.

Alexis – 6

Instantly made a difference when he came on. It’s a shame that’s what it took for us to wake up.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – N/A
