In a game where Arsenal had the most of the ball possession, David Ospina had a good game overall in Arsenal’s 2-1 win against Burnley.

As expected when Arsenal plays a lower division team, the Colombian goalkeeper was not very busy.

There was pressure on the goalie’s shoulders, as it was his first game since September and his poor performance in the Champions League. He certainly did not disappoint and make key saves at important times.

His decision-making was fine and he couldn’t do a lot for the Burnley goal, as it was a seven-yard bullet header.

He won his one-on-one against Andre Gray when the score was 0-0, 10 minutes into the game. It was a crucial save, as we all know how the Emirates’ fans and the players get tight when they go one nil down at home. He made another good save from an Arfield shot in the 50th minute. He was also alert to a Gray shot late in the game and had the ball covered as it went wide with a minute to go.

He looked sharp despite the lack of playing time and read the game well, as seen when he managed to intercept a dangerous through ball to Gray in the 11th minute. He was not tested much in that area of his game as the two centre backs often dropped to cover the Burnley centre-forwards.

His kicking was correct, he mixed long balls and short passing to good effect and did not give away any balls to put the team in trouble.

His handling was also quality with two good corner catches, when he went to claim the ball in the air with authority in the 31st and 64th minutes – something that he has obviously worked on and learnt from his previous mistakes.

Overall, a decent performance and the game allowed him to get precious minutes under his belt as he may be required to step onto the pitch should Cech get injured or suspended.
