Arsenal’s Danielle Carter has signed a new two-year contract with the club and the forward is hoping that she will add to her trophy collection with the Gunners in the near future.

Carter has been with Arsenal since 2009 and has represented England at all levels from u17 right through to the seniors. She was also part of Team GB at the Olympics in 2012.

“To add another two years on to my contract is great,” she told Arsenal Player. “It’s a pleasure to still be at Arsenal and continue to progress with this club.

“Since I’ve been here we have always won trophies, whether it’s the Continental Cup, FA Cup or the league. We just want to win as many trophies as possible. I’m definitely going to keep striving to avoid being trophyless while I’m here.

“I have won 11 trophies which is fantastic, but that’s all in the past now. In the near future, this season we want to win the Women’s Super League, qualify for the Champions League, do well in the FA Cup and Continental Cup. We want to be up there competing for all the trophies on offers.

“The signings we’ve made show the strength of league now. There are so many movements going on. Liverpool have won it back-to-back and have lost a lot of players, but they’ve also brought in a lot of players. Chelsea and Manchester City have brought in players as well so it’s going to be a pleasure to be involved in such a good league this season.”

Carter has 71 appearances for Arsenal and 19 goals and has featured in 40 of Arsenal’s last 42 league matches during which time she found the back of the net 12 times.

She is still only 22 and joined the club when she was just 15, moving from the Leyton Orient Girls Centre of Excellence.
