Nacho Monreal has signed a three-year extension to his current Arsenal contract which will see the defender remain at the club until 2019 at least.

The report first appeared on Spanish radio on Saturday afternoon and would, hopefully, put an end to the speculation linking him with a return to Spain.

Monreal has instilled himself as a real fans’ favourite since his arrival at the club in 2013 and has ousted Kieran Gibbs as the first choice left-back at the club.

Signed from Malaga for a fee rumoured to be in the region of £8.3m, he has proven to be a real bargain and the contract extension is excellent news.
