Ryo Miyaichi has recovered from his latest injury and is ready to feature for his new club, FC St Pauli.

The Japanese winger left Arsenal in the summer after a series of injuries hampered his time at the club and out on loan.

Signed as a promising schoolboy in 2011, he was never able to fulfil his potential despite a promising start to his time as an Arsenal player with a productive loan at Feyenoord.

Spells with Bolton, Wigan and FC Twente were all a struggle for the pacey youngster and when his contract was up with the Gunners they opted to let him go rather than persist with him when it became clear that he would be unlikely to make the grade at Arsenal.

Miyaichi signed a three year deal with the Germans in the summer but picked up a cruciate knee ligament injury in his first game for the club against Rayo Vallecano and has not featured since.

“I have a tight schedule ahead of me and I will work hard every day,” Ryo told the official St Pauli site. “It was a very hard time,” he added.

“As a footballer you always want to be on the grass with the ball at your feet.

“Inside, reeling off my program in the weight room, while I was watching the other sin how they are outside, was sometimes difficult.

“I feel much stronger than before the injury.”

Ryo should make his competitive debut for St Pauli when German football restarts after its winter break at the beginning of February. With just four points from their last five games, St Pauli are in fourth place in Bundesliga 2, 11 points behind league leaders RB Leipzig.
