Tuesday night saw some FA Cup replays take place, and some Arsenal loanees discovered their fates moving on with the competition.

Lining up for Bolton Wanderers and Ipswich Town, Wellington Silva and Ainsley Maitland-Niles were trying to help their sides avoid embarrassing defeats against lower league opposition, but only one prevailed.

Wellington Silva, Bolton 3-2 Eastleigh

Brazilian winger Wellington started and played 86 minutes at the Macron Stadium as Bolton narrowly avoided a shock defeat to non-league Eastleigh. The game only went to a replay because of a last minute equaliser for the side bottom of the Championship a week and a half ago, and wasn’t far from ending level after 90 minutes again.

However, late on, Wellington (wearing number 22) fed Darren Pratley who played a one-two with Shola Ameobi before netting the winner.

Bolton will face Leeds United in the fourth round.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Portsmouth 2-1 Ipswich Town

Playing for the Tractor Boys, 18-year-old midfielder Maitland-Niles netted his second goal of the season and his first in the FA Cup, but it wasn’t enough to save Ipswich from defeat.

Nice strike, Ainsley!

Meanwhile, ten man Bury beat Bradford City on penalties meaning they will face Hull City and Arsenal loanees Chuba Akpom and Isaac Hayden in the fourth round.
