Ever the professional, Laurent Koscielny shrugged off his goal against Newcastle insisting that he doesn’t care, as long as he’s helping the team.

The defender scored his third goal against the Magpies since joining Arsenal and has become a bit of a thorn in their side. This time, as well as putting in a superb defensive performance, the Frenchman managed to pull off a stunning finish.

This isn’t the first time Kos has carried out a pretty effective striker impression but he insisted that although he’s happy, it’s more about winning and staying at the top of the league.

“I’ve scored against them before but the most important thing is that the team wins and I am happy with the goal,” he said.

Before adding, “We need to stay top.”

These comments once again show how committed Kos is to Arsenal. Scoring for defenders, even Kos, isn’t common and for him to brush it off and concentrate on the ‘greater good’, so to speak, shows how invested he is.

It’s brilliant to see. Although I’m sure he’ll be having a cheeky fist pump (oo-er) later on.
