Arsenal are set to loan defensive midfielder Glen Kamara to former club Southend United for the remainder of the 2015/16 season.

Kamara, who joined the Gunners from Southend back in 2012, made his first team debut earlier this season in the 3-0 League Cup defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

The 20-year-old has earned five u21 caps for Finland and is a regular for the Arsenal u21 side, playing in 10 of their 11 u21 Premier League games so far this season. He isn’t in the squad to face Swansea City u21s on Friday, as the move to Southend nears completion.

Good luck on loan Glen!

The move could see Krystian Bielik given a chance in his preferred midfield role. The Polish youngster joined Arsenal from Legia Warsaw a year ago but is yet to feature for the first team and has spent almost all of his time with the youth team playing at centre-half.

With Kamara leaving, a gap will appear in midfield and it could be Bielik’s chance to prove he is a natural in that role. The Pole is also not involved for Arsenal on Friday afternoon having trained with the first team earlier on in the day.
