Arsene Wenger spoke ahead of our match against Sunderland on Saturday and insisted that although it won’t be an easy game, on our day, we can beat anyone in the Premier League.

Sam Allardyce and Wenger have a turbulent history but ahead of our FA Cup tie against the Black Cats, the boss was complimentary of the manager and insisted we won’t see any weakness from his side.

Saying this, he went on to declare how confident we should be going into the match and that when we perform, we can beat anyone in the League.

“We are confident because when we perform we know we can beat anyone in the Premier League,” the boss said.

“We have learnt this season that the Premier League is tricky and we play at home in front of our crowd where we feel that we can qualify, but we have learnt against Sunderland that on the break they were dangerous. It was a very hard-fought win against them.”

Wenger is right. Although we’ve had a few slip-ups this season, they’ve been down to a mixture of bad luck and poor performances. When we play well, we really can beat anyone, which we demonstrated against Manchester City recently and Bayern Munich a few months ago.

Hopefully our confidence doesn’t come back to bite us on the backside.
