Glenn Hoddle’s been off on one again.

This time, the former Spurs man has revealed he reckons his former team could actually beat Arsenal to the title…

Speaking recently, the pundit said, “In this extraordinary season, with Chelsea falling by the wayside, Manchester United weaker than ever, Manchester City inconsistent and even Arsenal prone to some awful performances, they [Spurs] have an opportunity which may not present itself again.”

“In fact, I would go as far to say that other than Leicester City, Tottenham have been the most consistent side in the Premier League this season. Unlike Arsenal, their defeats haven’t been meltdowns.”

Spurs currently sit fourth in the league with 35 points – seven behind us – and although that’s not exactly threatening at the moment, the majority of their points have been dropped due to draws, not losses. They’ve had very few bad results and even managed to beat Southampton away 2-0, something we couldn’t manage.

Saying this, Pochettino’s teams have a habit of dropping off after Christmas. It happened at Southampton and it’s likely to happen again at Spurs. Therefore, although they appear to be consistent now, this could easily change, especially if they pick up a few injuries.

I understand Hoddle’s blind faith in his former team. However, some things should perhaps be kept to ourselves and the notion of Spurs winning the league this season is probably one of them.
